All students who have to appear in remedial examination of  Power system-2 subject are instructed to remain present for remedial examination on 17/4/2026 at 1:00 PM AT ROOM NO -4104

Examination will be of 30 marks and Syllabus will be as below.

Representation of Power System Components: One line and impedance diagram, Per unit system, Per unit representation of transformer, Per unit impedance diagram of power system, Examples

– per unit system and impedance diagram, Synchronous machine, Power factor and power control, Salient pole synchronous generator, Operating chart of a synchronous generator, Representation of loads.

Transmission Line Modeling and Performance: Introduction, Short transmission line, Medium transmission line, Long transmission line Rigorous solution, Evaluation of ABCD constants, Interpretation of long line equations, Ferranti effect, Tuned power lines, Power through a transmission line, Circle diagrams, Methods of voltage control, Examples.

Symmetrical Fault Analysis: Introduction, Transient on a transmission line, Short circuit of a synchronous machine on no load, short circuit of a loaded synchronous machine, Selection of circuit breakers.

Symmetrical component transformation, Phase shift in star-delta transformers, Sequence impedances of transmission lines, Sequence - impedances and networks of synchronous machines.

 Unsymmetrical Fault Analysis: Introduction, Symmetrical component analysis of unsymmetrical faults, Single line to ground fault.

Corona: Critical Disruptive Voltage, Corona Loss, Line Design based on Corona, Disadvantages of Corona, Radio Interference, Inductive interference between Power and Communication lines, Examples.

Syllabus of examination is as below and exam will be of 30 marks.

Power amplifier , Differential amplifier, Direct coupled multi-stage amplifier; internal structure of an operational amplifier, ideal op-amp, non-idealities in an op-amp (Output Offset voltage, input bias current, input offset current, slew rate, gain band width product)

Linear applications of op-amp

Idealized analysis of op-amp circuits. Inverting and non-inverting amplifier, differential amplifier, instrumentation amplifier, integrator and differentiator, active filter, voltage regulator, oscillators (Wein bridge and phase shift).

Non linear applications of op-amp

Hysteretic Comparator, Zero Crossing Detector, Square-wave and triangular-wave

generators. Precision rectifier, Peak detector.

Combinational Digital Circuits

Standard representation for logic functions, simplification of logic functions using

K- map and Boolean algebra, Don’t care conditions, Multiplexer, DeMultiplexer/Decoders, Adders, Subtractors, BCD arithmetic, carry look ahead

adder, serial adder, digital comparator, parity checker/generator, code converters, priority encoders, decoders/ drivers for display devices

Sequential circuits and systems

A 1-bit memory, the circuit properties of Bi-stable latch, the clocked SR flip flop,

J- K, T and D types flip-flops, applications of flip-flops.

NOTICE

 This is to inform all students that the examination scheduled on 01/04/2026 has been rescheduled.

The examination will now be conducted on 10/04/2026.

All other examinations scheduled from 02/04/2026 to 09/04/2026 will remain unchanged.

Students are advised to take note of the above changes and prepare accordingly.

Internal Evaluation phase-I for internships with rubrics

 

Notice

All final year students are hereby informed that the Phase–I Evaluation of Internship will be conducted at the institute from 09/02/2026 to 13/02/2026.

All students are required to consult their respective institute mentors and decide a suitable date for their evaluation within the above-mentioned period. Accordingly, students must appear before their mentor on the finalized date for their first evaluation.

Students must come prepared with the following documents:

·         Internship Presentation (PPT)

·         Weekly Progress Report

·         Any other relevant documents as prescribed

The evaluation rubrics for Phase–I will be displayed tomorrow on the department notice board/portal.

Attendance for the evaluation is mandatory for all final year students.
